GREENSHANKS

Greenshanks is the musical artist name chosen by singer-songwriters Will Boyd-Wallis, a creative woodworker and environmental advocate based in the Highlands of Scotland This is his first official release and one that reflects his love of place and sense of history.

Blessed with a rich warm voice, he has also assembled an impressive ensemble, including a variety of keyboards from the in-demand Hamish Napier and low whistle from the world wandering piper Ross Ainslie to help deliver his musical visions.

The 5 tracks on the EP all take us back to the sea. Whether this be historically based, as in the Clearances forced tall ship transport to Nova Scotia of his great-great grandfather, the dangers of the waves in a cautionary tale of an impatient and ultimately doomed lover or the personal and intimate reflection of the title track.

Whilst there is a diversity on the themes and moods of the songs, what holds the variety together are the unifying presence of the sea and the delivery of the man himself. Hopefully a taster of more to come.

Released on March 7th, it is available to pre-order from the Bandcamp page
