45th Folk Club Anniversary

We held our 45th Folk Club Anniversary on 9th January with Guest - Steve Canavan.

His dad Mike Canavan was our first guest on 12th January 1981 and remained a great friend. We thought it was so wonderful that Steve was keeping on his Dad's tradition as a singer/songwriter, that he was the obvious choice for our special night. It was a full house and the night was filled with song, laughter and many memories shared, as Steve mixed his sets with his own self-penned songs and his father's well remembered ones such as, The Knocker Upper Man, Harpurhey Baths, Don't Bring That in 'ere Lads and Do As You Are Told.

We feel so proud that the club has always encompassed all aspects of traditional folk, blues and contemporary music, holding singarounds on a weekly basis and concerts once a month. We are privileged to have supporters who have stayed with us through the highs and lows and many who have brought their individual talents to our club and beyond. We can only say Thank you all.
