The song is about a old lady being relocated from her rundown house in Manchester to a new house in Hattersley against her will.I think the chorus goes something like .Oh Hattersley oh Hattersley your spirits wild and free.

I happened on the Northern Folk site by accident, while looking to see if there any more words to those I know. "As I was going home to tea I thought I'd have a luxury So off I went to Mother MacSpinkles, Bought myself a pennyworth of winkles Went back home and put 'em on a plate as happy as can be And then I went upstairs while all the fa-mi-ly ... Were PICKING ALL THE BIG ONES OUT PICKING ALL THE BIG ONES OUT D'y'ever see a man's face so full of wrinkles As when I saw my pennyworth of winkles All the big ones gone It made me rage and shout To see the missis and the seven little nippers all PICKING ALL THE BIG ONES OUT If you come across any more I'd love to know them Do you want the tune too? David Frost, Gloucestershire I learnt this aged 8 on a Quaker Study Holiday, while my parents were deep in thought and a kind lady looked after the little ones. NOTE TO WEBMASTER: I tried sending this to browningfamily (request Dec 8th)and got it rejected so I'm sending it to you. Hope you can forward it.

Please can anyone out there help me find a recording of 'A/The Miners Dream Of Home'? My grandfather, who has recently died aged 97, was a miner many moons ago up near Durham and this was one of the songs he loved to sing. He wanted this song to be played at his funeral and we cannot find much information at all on where to get a recording of it from. There are a few American versions but we'd much prefer a UK singer doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Karen.

Battle of ?Leon 1970 by Alan Bell

I'll tell the a tale of disaster as 'appened one 'ot summers day

when England were beaten by Germans, south o't' border down Mexico way.

Some say as our lads 'ad 'em beaten,

we were winning by 2 goals to nil

when Germans got three lucky goals in,

well, you can't really call that skill

......anyone know the rest please?
