Mr Kite Benefits

Mr Kite Benefits use the promotion of live music the North West of the UK to support a wide range of charities.  A £100 donation is guaranteed to charity from every Benefit and musicians are carefully selected to guarantee satisfaction.

The idea is that the audience can trust that they'll get value for money and satisfaction that any profits are going to a worthy cause.

These Benefits started in 1997 with a Benefit with Kate Rusby and have continued with artists such as Chris While and Julie Matthews, Bert Jansch, Jez Lowe, Kristina Olsen and Peter Grayling, Bill Jones and many more.

Since that first benefit, there have been over 30 Benefits and, by the time Santa popped down your chimney in 2001, the donations to charity from Mr. Kite Benefits had exceeded over £6000.

What better way to start 2008 than with the BBC Radio 2 Folk Duo of 2007.
Both Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick have musical histories that would fill a book with
Carthy's involvement with The Watersons and Swarbrick's membership of the seminal
Fairport Convention line up being the biggest jewels in their encrusted crowns. When Swarb’s
obituary was prematurely written, many would have thought they’d never see this classic folk
duo perform again. But with a new album under their belt and the aforementioned award,
ready yourself for a feast of tradition.
